Earth Hour at 8:30 Saturday – come and hang out.

Hi, My artists reception at the Unitarian Church ends at 8:30pm, so thenI plan to return home and hang out outside and see who’s there and how many lights are on/off.

Pop by if you like – maybe we’ll start planning a potluck for Friday April 1 (why not celebrate April Fool’s Day?) and/or Car Free Vancouver block party for Sunday June 19.

Block Party- June 19th 2011 (?)

Hoping our block will host a Kitsilano Car-free Days block party on Sunday, June 19th. Who’s in?

Last year, we “skipped” a year, but block parties have been a big hit usually. Large or small, they’re a good thing. Past parties have included some or all of:

yard sale

potluck dinner

music – live, up close and personal

street hockey

balloon animals

making tissue paper lanterns

drawing on the sidewalk and street with chalk

free store

Send me a note to if you live on the block (you know who you are) – or very close – i.e. around the corner (you know who you are) and are interested in participating somehow.

Vernal Equinox

Things are coming up in the garden. A bit messy – too many grape hyacinth leaves; and various other spots of disorder, but mom nature is a tad messy – but very creative.

Spring is here – or coming soon. Snowdrops have been out for some time, and crocuses and the thin rounded green leaves of grape hyacinths are abundant – but without bloom.

I’ve become the Green Streets volunteer for the traffic circle at 6th and Trafalgar and am contemplating a spiral herb garden.
